Each form is described by fineness, format and assay. No lots are listed: we hold no stock during our establishment stage, and each requirement is reviewed against a written specification.

Priority product

Refined gold bars

999.9999.01 kg kilobarOther formats on specification

Refined bars normally carry the refiner's mark, weight, fineness and serial number. Uganda's mines ministry has said exported gold must be refined to 99.9% (reported). No Ugandan refinery is on the LBMA Good Delivery List, so bars are assayed by the buying refinery on arrival.

The specification a quote would be written against; no supply is in place yet. Fineness is established by fire assay; the buying refinery assays on arrival, and an independent umpire decides if results differ beyond the agreed tolerance. The export-route column shows only what Uganda's law and ministry establish.

Uganda

Gold from Uganda

Uganda exports far more gold than it records mining. For a buyer, Ugandan origin has to be documented: gold mined in Uganda, refined in Uganda and only exported through Uganda are different claims, and compliance teams test which one is meant. These are national figures, not Uganda Gold Report stock or supply; they are why the origin documents of each lot matter.

Assay & documents

What any lot would need

The three things a refiner's compliance team checks before price is discussed.

Assay and umpire

Fineness by fire assay on a sealed split sample, on arrival by the buying refinery, with an umpire named in the contract if results differ; no assay arrangement is in place yet.

How assay works

Documents that travel with the gold

An export permit for the consignment, a certificate of origin, and a certificate of analysis authenticated by the country of origin, with proof of levy and royalty where applicable.

Uganda's export rules

Documented origin

Mine-level chain of custody. Our intended standard: every lot would trace to a licensed Ugandan site; no supply meeting it has been identified yet. Most gold exported through Uganda cannot meet it.

Mined versus exported

How it works

How buying works

How a purchase would proceed once our supply route is in place. Under the Act, minerals may be exported only under an export permit for each consignment. We are working towards a licensed supply route; none is in place yet.

  1. Requirement

You send the form, fineness, quantity, delivery point, timing and the documents you require.

  2. Review

Who you are and what you need are reviewed, together with what can lawfully be supplied.

  3. Specification and price basis

Form, fineness and format are agreed, with an LBMA-based price and a stated differential.

  4. Documents and due diligence

Both sides are identified and screened; the export permit, certificates of origin and analysis, and chain-of-custody records are checked.

  5. Commercial terms

A contract fixes the Incoterm, delivery point, assay terms and the payment arrangement for that transaction.

  6. Lawful export and delivery

The licensed exporter ships under its permit, the buying refinery assays on arrival (an independent umpire decides if results differ beyond the agreed tolerance), and payment follows the terms of the contract.
