Independence and conflicts of interest
Uganda Gold Report is being established as a gold business. Its aim is to supply Ugandan gold to buyers worldwide through a lawful, licensed structure. That gives us a commercial interest in gold from Uganda, and you should read our pages knowing it.
Where we are today
- No company has yet been formed for the business, and we hold no licence in Uganda or elsewhere.
- We do not currently hold stock, and we do not buy, sell, broker, finance, store, refine or export gold. We have not arranged any transaction.
- We receive no commission, introduction fee or other payment from any supplier, refinery, buyer or other party to a gold transaction.
- We accept no payment for what we publish. There are no paid listings, sponsored pages or advertising on this site.
- We are not affiliated with any government body, regulator, licensing authority, laboratory or certification scheme. Links to official sources are for your reference.
How we keep our evidence separate from our commercial interest
- Every factual statement is sourced and labelled by the strength of its evidence, whether or not it helps our business. See how we label evidence.
- Where Uganda's rules are unsettled, we say so, even when a clearer answer would suit us. Whether doré may currently be exported is one example.
- We do not endorse suppliers, refineries or traders, and we do not publish lists of "trusted" suppliers.
- Our commercial pages state what can and cannot be supplied. They never imply stock, licences, partners or transactions we do not have.
- Errors are corrected openly. See corrections.
How conflicts will be disclosed
When a commercial relationship exists, for example with a licensed exporter, refinery, carrier, bank or buyer, we will state the type of relationship on this page, with the date, and on any page where it is relevant. If we are ever to be paid by any party to a transaction, this page will say who pays and for what before any such service is offered.
